Well it's been about 2 weeks and nobodys replied to my topic.I'll give time for someone to reply just in case. I only do this because next year Larry Martin could run for representative, and nobody that lives outside the district could vote either for or against him. Remember back to 1981 when Martin was rep and Pickens County was getting jobs at places like the new NCR plant. Then Martin got that job at Alice, and everything stopped on a dime. First there was the closing of the Cateeche Mill and sadly this wasn't the end. There's more to follow, but as usual I'll give time for someone to reply. Good day!

Well, it's been 4 days, and nobodys replied to my topic. It's the last day of August, Labor Day is around the corner, and soon it will be football season. Let's fast-forward to 1987. Carroll Campbell had been elected Govenor. Larry Martin was still a Democrat. Dick Riley had had a 2 tiered tax program for industries base on the number of jobs created. Caroll Campbell added a 3rd category to the bill. But Pickens County was left in the 3rd category, while Anderson and Oconee Countries were in the middle category. I'll never forget, one day I was reading the paper. It had that Pickens, Greenville, and Spartanburg Counties had formed an MSA. Grenville County had created over 2000 jobs, Spartanburg over 1000, while Pickens had created a whooping 80 jobs. That's pathetic. I've got to believe that Rex Rice would never stand for that. As usual,I'll give time for someone to reply before I come back. Meanwhile, have a nice Labor Day!

Well I'm back, and it's been 6 days and nobodys replied to my topic. Before I talk about things like Larry Martin and the BMW plant, I'll talk about why he switched parties. First of all, it may have surprised some people, not me. You seelected dog cather in 1978 when he first started. Things have changed. While Dick Riley was governor you had to be a Democrat to do anthiing One thing for sure, he wouanthiing have switched parties as long as Dick Riley was governor. Then Carroll Cambell was elected probably because he promised but didn't deliver on ]lowering car insurance rates. Larry Martin probably wouldn't have switched parties at least when he if Mike Danel been elected. So he switched. There was this big TV thing about it. Before I come back I'll give someone a chance to reply. Meanwhile, have a nice day!

Well I'm back, and nobody replied to my topic. First I'll get to reason why I think Larry Martin could run for rep. Only 11,086 people voted, and the difference was a mere 934 votes. So it's conceveble, he could run again, and nobody that lives outside the distric could vote for or against him, but stil feel the efects. Before I come back I'll give time for someone to reply. Meanwhile have a nice day.

Well I'm back, and nobodys replied to my topic. Fipa rst of all, 11,086 isn't even 15% of the electorate. That's pathetic! Is it any wonder I don't like either party, and Larry Martin is the reason. He was bad news, Democrat or Republican. He only switched because Caroll Campbell was elected. He never would have switched if Mike Daniel been elected. Before I come back I'll give time for someone to reply. Meanwhile, have a nice day.

Well I'm back, and again, nobodys replied to my topic. I'll talk about a little known fact, but I read it in an article in the Greenville News. It seems that BMW required that Tier 1&2 supplers be within 30 miles of the plant. Larry Martin and Buriss Nelson must have been fully aware of this. Main Street Pickens is 28 milles from Anderson, the first place that BMW was to locate. The industrial park on Cartee Road is 34 miles from BMW. The only place I can thnk of is the Saco-Lowell plant, and it had just had a new roof and abated the asbestos. I've always wondered about the sudden move to Greer, but one thing for sure, Pickens County would have gotten alot of BMW suppliers. Before I come back, as usual, I'll give time for someone to reply. Meanwhile have a nice day.

Well I'm back, and nobody's replied to my topic. First of all, if BMW had located in Anderson, Pickens County would have gotten thousands of supplier jobs. As it stands, 0. Larry Martin was neither a Democrat or Republican, he was an employee of Alice Manufacturing Company, and Alice couldn't let BMW locate in Anderson. Before I come back I'll give time forsomeone to reply. Meanwhile have a nice day.
