Anybody know which one of our local dauntless defenders of virtue is alleged to have pulled this lame-brained stunt? Inquiring minds want to know, and the FOIA shouldn't protect this as a "personnel matter" since his actions, if true, constitute far more than an employment issue.

Seems the me that anybody who is brave enough to do laundry, alone, in a laundromat, at 1:30 in the morning while her husband is home sleeping (?!?!) should at least be able to count on the local police department to protect her from ... well, from what she claimed happened to her. It also seems to me, at the same time, that any police officer who is dumb enough to try what is alleged is probably too dumb to have been hired as a police officer in the first place. But I've been surprised before.
One thing I do know is that the word "consensual" may protect him from criminal penalties (again, if it is determined to have happened), but it wouldn't protect his job. Barney just shouldn't be romancing Thelma Lou while he's on the clock.
Beyond those comment, I'll reserve judgment pending SLED's investigation. Already this year, I've fallen for the scarred girl being thrown out of KFC hoax, the lesbian waitress with the bogus insult on a receipt hoax, and the "If you like your insurance, you can keep your insurance" hoax. I think I'll just ride this one out and see what happens.
The allegations may be true. Or they may be false. One way or another, we residents of this fine city deserve to know how the investigation turns out. Enough stuff has already been swept under the rug in Pickens in recent years that it's beginning to resemble a small mountain range. I don't need to see another unexplained bump.
